THE ROCK BOTTOM TWINS

Identical twin brothers — brilliant, mischievous, and hopelessly ambitious — hatch a daring scheme in the heart of Africa. Their target: a priceless diamond guarded by the ancient Nakkubatty tribe. Legend says the jewel will one day be reclaimed by a shimmering elephant god who entrusted it to them eons ago.
So the twins decide to make that prophecy “come true.”
With wrenches, wizardry, and wicked imagination, they construct a colossal mechanical elephant and pass it off as the divine being itself, convinced they can fool the tribe, seize the gem, and return to England as rich, celebrated geniuses.
But their grand plan spirals into chaos as the cantankerous duo face cannibals, alligators, treacherous swamps, and a parade of tropical nightmares. What follows is an adventure that veers wildly between hilarious and dark — a tale of greed, madness, and mechanical mayhem.
First published in 2008 by a traditional house, The Rock Bottom Twins faced a remarkable journey — rejected by no fewer than sixty‑four publishers and agents worldwide. (The twins still keep every letter.) Then, at last, a courageous gentleman took a chance on the brothers’ wild imagination, and the three‑book series was born. This volume, the second in the trilogy, remains their personal favourite.
Publishing can be an unforgiving world, and the trials behind this trilogy prove it. Finding someone who believes in your work is never easy.
Now, with the original edition long out of print, this beloved adventure returns in a newly launched reprint — a second life for a story that refused to stay buried.
